About the Job
- The Director of Nursing (Person in Charge) provides overall management and administration of the Nursing Home, providing care for all residents
- They have responsibility for the supervision of the Clinical Nurse Managers, Nurses and Care Assistants in a direct capacity, and is also responsible indirectly for all other staff in the Nursing Home
- He/she will work closely with and lead the staff team to ensure provision of best practice person centred care to all residents in line with HIQA regulations. He/she must also effectively manage all available resources within the allocated budget
- Responsible for the recruitment, development, training and supervision of staff
- Responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures
- Responsible for all aspects of risk management and resident involvement
- Oversee financial expenditure and value for money
- Endeavour to keep abreast of recent trends in developments.
- Ensure that the provision of a high standard of care to the resident and families in the nursing home is consistent with the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of our clients Nursing Home
- Oversee the delivery of resident care together with all members of the multidisciplinary teams.
REQUIREMENTS
- Current registration with Nursing Midwifery board of Ireland (NMBI)
- A minimum of 6 years Nursing experience with three of the past six in a care of the older person/geriatric nursing area
- At least 3 years management experience, ideally in a relevant setting
- A management qualification or a willingness to undertake one is essential
- An understanding of dementia including: current best practice in dementia care, the issues facing people living with
- Dementia and their carers/families and the services available
- Experience liaising with Health Information Quality Authority is desirable
- Excellent communication skills
- Sound decision making ability and results driven
- Good appreciation of finance issues
- Ability to motivate self and others and work on own initiative
- Ability to work well and promote a team environment
- Willingness to be flexible and adapt to the needs of the company
